The inn is a charmingly restored Victorian era farmhouse fully air conditioned, built in 1903 on a steep hillside overlooking the gold rush town of Sonora The landscaped gardens, covering an acre, are over 70 years old. You can sit on one of the shady porches or in the gardens to read, relax or enjoy one of the magnificent foothill sunsets or, if you prefer, play croquet or badminton in the gardens near the gazebo.

There are five antique-filled nonsmoking rooms with king or queen size beds, including a one-bedroom suite with a plant filled solarium sitting room and a two-bedroom suite with adjoining parlor. All rooms have private baths, two with whirlpool tubs for two. The rooms have CableTV’s and VCRs (with an extensive video library for guest use) radios and CD players.

Each morning a full gourmet breakfast is served in the formal dining room, or in warm weather, on the screened porch overlooking the terraced gardens. The cuisine has an international flair; the innkeepers are Swedish (Astrid) and American (Daniel).
